Під впливом глобалізаційних перетворень утворилися нові форми нерівності та дискримінації, від якої непропорційно страждають жінки. Гендерна рівність має ключове значення у досягненні Цілей Сталого розвитку ООН до 2030 року, а паритет у представництві жінок та чоловіків у національних парламентах дозволить забезпечити демократичний розвиток держави.
